The T-5 Mustangs were built by Ford for export to Germany where the "Mustang" name could not appear maywhere on the vehicle (except for the wheels) since the word was trademarked and in use by the Krup company for a truck and tractor line. Most of the T-5 Mustangs were purchased by American and German servicemen stationed in Germany. Very few of the T5 Mustangs were ever brought back to the United States.
