L-head inline supercharged six-cylinder engine, Marvel carburetor, three-speed transmission, hypoid rear axle gearing and four-wheel hydraulic brakes, disc wheels. Wheelbase: 115" Graham-Paige had been in the automobile business since 1928. The three Graham brothers were well respected in Detroit, having started as the builders of fine trucks following the World War I. After selling that company to the Dodge brothers in 1926, they acquired the faltering Paige- Detroit Motor Car Company to enter automobile manufacturing. After 1930\ the company became known solely as Graham and although the firm struggled to survive during the Depression, throughout those ensuing years Graham established a reputation for excellent performance. In 1934 the first supercharged Graham appeared modeled on the highly successful Duesenberg unit. Graham-powered race cars competed at Indy, while Graham automobiles set speed and hillclimb records. Graham Supercharged engines were sold to England for use in the Lammas sports touring cars and to France’s Voisin to power the Type C-30. Despite these successes sales continued to dwindle and when the public reaction to the radical-lookingSharknose Graham proved disastrous the company entered an agreement to build the Hupmobile Skylark for the struggling firm in return for allowing them to build their own version. Both cars were based on the Cord 810/812 dies that Hupp had purchased from E. L. Cord’s company that went into receivership. The Sharknose was soon dropped following the introduction of the more stylish Graham Hollywood. The Hollywood was available in both supercharged and unsupercharged form. Graham did more than just change the Cord from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive, affix the headlamps to the fenders and redesign the nose. The bodywork was all new from the cowl forward and overall the Graham was 10 inches shorter with a shortened frame at the front. This beautiful, older restored Graham is fitted with the very desirable 120hp supercharged engine as well several very rare options. The rich red leather seats are set-off with white piping, like new red carpet and its lavish dash and door panels are impressive in their overall appearance. As its current owner states, “The beautifully refinished, large diameter Art Deco steering wheel, turned-aluminum dash and full instrumentation make driving this Hollywood very pleasurable indeed.” Overall, the dark paintwork complements the tasteful chrome accents and flowing, aerodynamic lines of this Hollywood. Other desirable options and accessories of note include the rare factory approved grille guard, fog lamps, wide whitewall tires, dual mirrors, mudguards, radio and side cowl mounted antenna. This rare Hollywood Supercharged four door sedan was one of only 1,856 Hollywoods built by Graham in 1940 to 1941. Graham production ceased in mid 1941 as the company turned to concentrate on the aircraft and marine engine parts.

Graham Cars and Trucks History

Brothers Ray, Joseph, and Robert Graham got their start in the auto industry by converting Ford cars into one-ton express or stake trucks using a rear axle of the own design. They soon graduated to the manufacture of truck bodies for passenger car chassis and were offering their own line of trucks by 1920 and became the world?s largest producer of trucks.

Their success attracted the Dodge Brothers who were looking to enter the truck market. Through a deal signed in 1921, the Grahams built trucks soley with Dodge engines and drive trains, for sale exclusively through the Dodge dealer network.

In 1927 they sold their truck business to Dodge and then purchased the bankrupt Paige-Detroit Motor Car Company.

The Graham-Paige line of automobiles was introduced in 1928 and the firm set a sales record of nearly 75,000 cars for its first year of production.

Following the stock market crash of October 1929, sales of new Graham cars plummeted. In 1932, Graham introduced the Blue Streak Eight in hopes of regaining sales but with meager results as sales continued their downward spiral. The 1940 model, with sales of only 2,800 cars, was the last Graham produced.

1930 - Graham-Paige drop the "Paige" portion of its name.

Prices on the 1930 models ranged from $845 to $4,505.

The new Graham used rubber-cushioned springs.
