AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $74,250

265bhp, 4,235 cc dual overhead-camshaft inline six-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission, four-wheel independent suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 96"

The Series II E-Type offered here has traveled less than 35,500 miles from new and is presently with only its second owner, after having been in the possession of its original owner from 1970 through 2006. The first owner purchased the car new while stationed in Europe as a military officer and, upon returning to the United States, used it for a few more years before placing it into storage in Laredo, Texas.

After years without use, the first owner commissioned the marque specialists at Jeff’s Resurrections to perform a thorough cosmetic restoration, and to prepare the car for future road use. The second owner subsequently spent an additional $50,000 on engine, suspension and other mechanical restoration (invoices included). Thanks to its low mileage, proper storage and sympathetic and costly restoration work, this Series II example is phenomenally original and pristine. In 2003, it competed for JCNA National Honors, claiming second place, before competing once more in September 2008 and placing first in the JCNA Driven Class, where the judges remarked that it could have easily contended the concours category.

As expected of a car with such ownership and restoration history, as well as its JCNA show successes, this E-Type remains in wonderful condition and, what’s more, is also a pleasure to drive. It is accompanied by tools, a jack, owner’s manual, a Jaguar Heritage Certificate attesting to its matching numbers, and an array of paperwork related to its recent restoration as well as its 36-year relationship with the original owner.
