Lamborghini History

In 1946 Ferruccio Lamborghini built two roadsters, named the Lamborghini 750 Topolina, based on the Fiat 500 chassis. In 1947 he established Ferruccio Lamborghini Carioca and began the production of tractors. Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini was formed in 1963 with its first exotic sports car, the Lamborghini 350 GTV, with production to start in 1964.

The firm was taken over by Chrysler in 1987 who sold the company to Megatech/Bermudy (owned by Micom Setdco) in 1994. In 1995, about 60% of the shares were purchased by two Malaysian companies: Timor and V-Power Corporation. The current owner of Lamborghini, Volkwagen, acquired the company as part of its Audi consortium.
