1946 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet
$40,700
305 cid L-head V12 engine rated at 130 horsepower, three-speed manual transmission, four-wheel hydraulic cast-iron drum brakes; wheelbase 125.0"
One of the most expensive vehicles on the market, the Continental Cabriolet, was one of the most exclusive, too. Only 201 examples were produced in 1946, which had a base price of $4,474 at a time when the basic Ford convertible could be found for under $1,500. Even the labor-intensive wood-bodied Sportsman was under $2,000. Accepted by the Classic Car Club of America as a "Full Classic," this example has been given a complete restoration and is reported to be in excellent running condition. While the work on this car was completed several years ago, it has been well maintained and used very sparingly, always garaged and exercised on a regular basis while a part of the Old Car Heaven Museum. This cabriolet, finished in a rich maroon with matching leather interior and tan top, has taken on a slight patina of age and a deep detailing of the paint, chrome and soft trim would be in order prior to hitting the show circuit. Body panels are aligned at or above factory specifications with the hood and deck lid fitting as designed while the doors pop open with the press of the release button just as they were engineered to do. Fitted with original radio, heater, and clock, it shows just under 95,800 miles which are believed to be from new and not reset during the restoration process. A true classic from the day it was produced, this is a rare opportunity to acquire an automotive icon that is sure to appreciate in value.
