Lincoln Zephyr

In 1933, Edsel Ford, president of Ford Motor Company, was attracted to a futuristic prototype car developed by designer Jogn Tjaarda. Its "tear drop" shape and rear engine placement, however, seemed too radical for general acceptance.

Ford's design chief, Eugene Gregorie, modified the sloping front end of Tjaarda's protoype for a new 12-cylinder engine. The striking, knifelike prow joinded to Tjaarda's basic design presented an exciting, aerodynamic shape for the 1936 Lincoln-Zephyr.
