Novi Indy Race Car

Novi Indy Race Car
Novi Indy Race Car Engine: 8-Cylinder Novi Supercharged Bore: 3.125 inches Stroke: 2.937 inches Displacement: 181 Cubic Inches The fabulous Novi specials were crowd favorites from 1946, when the first front-drive Novi appeared, until 1955 when the last Novi of this type was entered. The man who spent the money on these powerful supercharged machines was Lew Welch. The engine was built by engineer designer, Leo Goosen, working with Ed and Bud Winfield. The drivers who made headlines behind the wheel of these cars were Ralph Hepburn, Cliff Bergere, Herb Ardinger, Duke Nalon and Chet Miller. Jean Marcenac was the faithful mechanic who spent a lifetime trying to have one of these engines take a car to victory lane -- he never succeeded.
