Oakland Motor Car Company History

1909 - General Motors acquires Oakland.

1926 - Oakland introduces the Oakland Pontiac.

1930 - Oakland abandons its six-cylinder engine and begins using a V-8 that will prove to be unreliable.

1932 - The Oakland Division of GM is closed. Pontiac becomes a new division of General Motors.
