1956 Plymouth Belvedere Sedan - Over 10,000 Classic, Collector and Current Cars and Trucks at RemarkableCars.com.
1956 Plymouth Belvedere Sedan
269 cid overhead valve V8 engine rated at 180 horsepower, Power-Flite two-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 115.0"
Even though Plymouth was considered Chrysler Corporation?s entry into the "low-priced three," there was not shortage in horsepower, modern styling, all the most popular motoring accessories, or vivid color schemes. Wild combinations of colors could be used to entice even the most conservative buyer to step-up for a new, delicious looking two-tone job, powered by a V8 engine with just a few extras. Most popular in the 1956 Belvedere line was the four-door sedan, and with a base price of just $2,164 when equipped with the new Hy-Flite V8 engines, there was plenty of room for extras just like the example offered here. In addition to the push-button Power-Flite transmission, it is equipped with push-button AM radio, dial-operated heater-defroster and a color-keyed interior featuring pink vinyl with black pattern cloth inserts. Showing a little over 54,100 miles, from the condition of this car it looks like those may be from new. Documents show the car was in California as late as 2005, and with a little TLC, this could become the star of any show, with its dramatic styling and excellent use of chrome.
