1953 Rolls-Royce Phantom IV Hooper Limousine

Photographed at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California. Photos by Douglas Wilkinson

This Phantom IV is the only one of the 17 cars delivered to customers (who had to be Heads of State) that featured the Hooper Limousine coachwork. It was built to the order of His Highness Abdul Illah, the Prince Regent of Iraq for the coronation of his nephew, the King.

Unfortunately, the Prince was assassinated in the 1959 revolution that eventually brought Saddam Hussein to power. At the time of the uprising, the car was at Hooper's in London for servicimg and was saved as a result.
