This car is one of the last Rolls-Royce 40/50 Silver Ghosts built before World War I. It is one of only five Rolls-Royces fitted with the H.A. Hamshaw Ltd limousine body. The vehicle is in completely original configuration including the body, chassis, running gear and coachwork. In 1918, the car was owned by Mrs. Alfred DuPont of Wilmington, Delaware, where it remained for 40 years. This car was produced by special permission of King Charles V at a time when only military production was permitted. It was said it was because of the DuPont contribution of gun powder that special permission was granted to build the car.
