Shelby Mustang GT350
Shelby Mustang GT350 - Photos, Auction Results and Specifications.
Ford's introduction of the Mustang on April 17, 1964 created a huge wave of excitement, however, what the new Mustang did not have was a strong performance image (despite Ford's attempt to give it one). So Ford turned to their resident performance expert, Carroll Shelby, to create a Mustang that would be recognized as a sports car so that it could compete on SCCA sanctioned road courses across the United States; the result was the 1965 Shelby GT350 and numerous B Production wins and titles. By the time production of 1965 Shelby GT350's ended in the summer of 1965, 521 Street Production Models and 34 Competition Production Models (aka R Models) had been produced.
