1965 Shelby Cobra 289 Roadster CSX2517
This black alloy-bodied Shelby Cobra has a a complete, well-documents, and quite interesting history listed in the Shelby American World Registry. The car was originally purchased by a young man with ambitions of racing the car. However, after being unable to successfully complete the training for his competition driver's license, he parked the car. Later, a gentleman who wanted to build a jet-powered car purchased the bodywork, but not the chassis and engine, of the Cobra and built a car that came to be known as the "Poison Passion" and later as "The Cobra-Jet".
The original chassis of CSX2517 changed hands a number of times (at one point for $3,000) and was eventually re-bodied using parts from chassis number 2215 and others around 1978.
The chain of ownership is complete; this is the real McCoy.
