1965 Shelby Daytona 427 Mk II Type 65 Coupe

This is the prototype car designed by Peter Brock and built by Carroll Shelby's Shelby American for a planned campaign during the 1965 long distance endurance racing season, particularly LeMans. This new car would be powered by a Ford 427 engine and was an effort to build on the very successful 1964 Shelby Daytona 289 program. However, delays in the project, especially by the selected coachbuilder, prevented meeting the homologation requirements.

This is the only Shelby Daytona 427 car built and is a prize possession for any Shelby collector.
