1959 Simca P60 Aronde Oceane Convertible - Over 10,000 Classic, Collector and Current Cars and Trucks at RemarkableCars.com.
1959 Simca P60 Aronde Oceane Convertible
1,290 cc overhead valve inline four-cylinder engine rated at 57 horsepower, four-speed manual transmission, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 96.3"
Probably the rarest and most obscure car from the Old Car Heaven collection is this little roadster. The Aronde line had been released in late 1955, and in the fall of 1957 a pair of sporty models joined the ranks, the Plein Ciel coupe and roadster and the Oceane, both with bodies supplied by Facel of Paris. Offered with the Flash Special a top speed of 82 mph could be found but with a price of $3,167 (POE), more expensive than many full-size American convertibles of the day, few were probably imported. Originally finished in Chinese Ivory, it was painted red a number of years ago. Purchased from California it appears to be complete including the original decals on the engine. A full sympathetic restoration of its basic systems would be highly recommended before taking this jewel on the road.
