Approximately 70 Volkswagen cars were used in the production of the Walt Disney Studios films, parades, ice shows, and promotions featuring Herbie The Love Bug. Only about 20 of the cars are know to survive today sine many of the cars were destroyed in stunts during filming.

This car starred in the 1997 made-for-TV Disney movie, The Love Bug, a sequel to a series of earlier movies that featured a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle endowed with human characteristics. The movie starred Bruce Campbell and Alexandra Wentworth. It also featured cameos by Dean Jones, the star of the original 1969 movie, and Mickey Dolenz of the 1960s pop group The Monkees.

In Walt Disney Pictures' Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005), the endearing Volkswagen returns transformed into a NASCAR contender. One of several built for the film, this Herbie is equipped with a 200 horsepower engine that can propel it to a remarkable 138 miles per hour and was the car driven by Lindsay Lohan as Maggie Peyton in the racing sequences.
This car belongs to the collection of Walt Disney Studios.
