1600cc/50hp Flat 4 with a 4-speed. Completely restored using a '71 body and modified to look like a '63. Award winner. Car started life as a 1971 VW Beetle. Car was disassembled down to the shell. A 1963 VW Beetle Ragtop donor car was used for parts. The Ragtop assembly was removed from the 63 and professionally installed into the roof of the 71 Beetle shell. It looks exactly as a 1963 Ragtop should. New pans were installed along with a rear package tray. Body was sandblasted and restored from the pan up. New fenders, hood and rear deck lid. New Herbie white pain throughout. All exterior trim, bumpers, lenses, glass, weather strips, rubber, ect. is new. Chrome wheels and tires new. Pop out rear windows installed. All interior is new with 1963 deluxe brick red seats/door panels and charcoal carpet. New charcoal cloth Ragtop. New charcoal trunk trim and matching chrome spare wheel. New dual-port 1600CC engine. New exhasust. New wiring throughout. New brake system. New gas lines. New Sony CD with infinity speakers. Restoration was completed in May 2006. Won first place at Volkswagen show in August 2006. Everything has been done to make this car look like a 1963.
