Plymouth ended up selling 1,935 of these one year wonders 1084 of the 440's were made. This car has been painstakingly detailed to the highest standards, the cars interior and vinyl top remain original, the outside has been refinished one time and has never had any rust or panel repairs, the car has all of its factory markings and is extremely detailed. The exhaust and tires have been replaced with correct reproduction parts and all components of the car are correct - the 375HP 440 was capable of 200 mph on the NASCAR track and its no wonder they were banned from competition after that rare year. This Superbird in Tor-red outside and black interior has the Single Barrel 440 Engine and 4 Speed Dana transmission is not numbers matching, however has the correct drive train. Options include bench seat, AM Radio, Power Steering and Power Brakes. Don Yenko would trans plant a 427 Cubic inch Big Block into a Camaro and tweak it to 450 hp. Yenko established a Network of Dealerships to sell these Supercars throughout the Country. In 1968 he built and sold Approx 65 of these Super Camaro's. This car is Yenko Serial # YS 8013 as evidenced by the Yenko tag in the drivers doorjamb area. 68 was the only year Yenko to receive this tag making the 68's very easy to Identify. This is the 13th car built for 1968. Very rare color of Grotto Blue and has a 4 speed trans. All 68 Yenko Camaro's also came equipped with the COPO 9737 option. The most visible part of the option is the Factory installed 140 mph Speedometer. Look at a 68 Camaro, they all have 120 speedos with the exception of the Yenko cars. In 1968 COPO 9737 was done by Chevrolet at the Factory just for Don Yenko, making these very special cars. This car is in Exceptional condition and runs as well as it looks. These cars are very fast. The Restoration is about 12 years old and was owned by the same person for over 20 years. 67 and 68 Yenko's are the hardest to find, as they were the least produced making this car an Excellent and fun investment opportunity. The cars were sold as factory NHRA F stock production racecars. All cars had a 315 horsepower 390 with a 4 speed. Only 1512 SC/Ramblers were built. There were only two paint packages. This AMC Hurst SC/Rambler is a B paint package; only 500 B paint cars were built. The only available option was an AM radio. This is a radio delete car. This car was in the Muscle Cars magazine September 2004 issue, and has won many awards, most noteworthy is the Palmetto award at the Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance Novemeber 2005.
