Description:
|
1927 ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM I WINDOVER TOURER CHASSIS NO: 47 YC ONE-OF-A-KIND The ‘New Phantom’ was introduced in 1925 to replace the World famous Ghost. It featured a superbly quiet and powerful 8-litre 6-cylinder engine, which ran as smoothly and quietly as a Swiss watch. The bodywork was designed and built by Windovers of England whose ancestry goes back to horse drawn carriage, far beyond the history of the motorcar. Originally commissioned for an Indian Maharaja, the vehicle features a running board mounted swivel lamp apparently used when hunting wild animals after dark. The ornate treatment of the dashboard is of particular special interest believed to be Mother of Pearl with Nickel Silver instruments. This extremely original example has covered just 25,000 miles since new and drives (according to those fortunate few who have driven her) like a new car.
