1948 Cadillac Series 62 Saoutchik 3-Position Convertible Coupe
In 1948 noted New York City furrier, Louis Ritter, commissioned J. Saoutchik, custom coachbuilder of Paris, France, to create a special convertible on a Cadillac chassis. This car was completed in time to be displayed at the Paris Salon of 1949 where it stole the show. After having the car shipped to New York, Ritter drove the car to his home in Beverly Hills, California. As was his custom, after driving it for a few months he sold the automobile. This car is one of two 1948 Cadillac Series 62 chassis that received similiar coachwork. Of the two designs, this is the more elaborate 3-Position Convertible Coupe. This completely restored masterpeice has won numerous honors including First Place Awards at AACA, CCCA, and Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance.
