1929 Ford Model A Station Wagon
Ford introduce the Model A Station Wagon in 1929 with a price tag of $695. The production model was simply a moderization of the depot hack, which had been produced for Model T chassis by several independent manufacturers for years. Like the depot hacks, the Station Wagon was not immediately a big success in terms of numbers sold. A total of 4,954 Station Wagons were built in 1929 by Ford. Like many auto makers, Ford provided this model more as an accommodation than as a profit maker for many years. The station wagon as a family car would not become popular until after World War II.
