1941 Ford 2-Door Convertible Custom Street Rod
Doug Thompson, internationally known designer and builder, known for taking "the road less traveled", has done it again. The high spirited supercharged world of street rodding along with the subtle flowing grace of a well designed custom automobile has been achieved in his latest creation. This extremely radical 1941 Ford is a perfect blending of concepts, incorporating expert custom styling with high tech street rod engineering.
Calling upon the talents of street rod specialists, "Pete & Jakes" an especially designed street rod chassis was constructed and fitted for a "Street & Performance" fuel injected Corvette engine, and drastically restyled body. The car has been surgically altered in all the traditional and many contemporary ways and hand-molded, with typical Doug Thompson style, into smooth, flowing, graceful lines. The result is a classic custom/rod that may well be recorded in specialty car history as the ultimate cross over car. This custom/rod combines two ways of thinking into one dynamic unit. 1941 Ford convertible body, chopped, sectioned horizontally, sectioned vertically, hood sectioned, trunk shortened, rear fenders narrowed, handmade fender skirts, Pete & Jakes '41 Ford frame, Mustang II IFS with disc brakes, Rack and Pinion steering with stainless tilt column, 9" Ford rear end, Street and Performance Corvette V8 350 engine with TPI, 350 Turbo transmission with Locar shifter.
