1925 Franklin Series 11A Sport Runabout
The unconventional look of air-cooled Franklins began to hurt sales in the early 1920's. The frontal appearance needed updating and in the Series 11 Franklins, this change came about with new body styling by J. F. de Causse. The de Causse stype completely changed the Franklin's appearance with a new dummy "radiator" shell. This step so appalled John Wilkinson, who had been vice-president and chief engineer since Franklin's outset, that he resigned from the company! The new look provided a greater variety of body types and marked a positive turning point in Franklin sales. The Sport Runabout featured a wooden frame and an air-cooled, 6-cylinder, 32-hp engine. The price of the Series 11A Sport Runabout car was $2,800.
