1956 GM Firebird II Concept Car
The Firebird II was the star of the 1956 General Motors Motorama. This gas turbine-powered "car of tommorrow" featured an aircraft-type canopy and a titanium body. Such cars might never reach production, but such style and imaginative engineering made the owners of mundane Chevrolets and Buicks feel as if they were buying into a bright, shining vision of the future.
