1931 Ford Model A Deluxe Town Car Delivery
After the success achieved by the sale of over 7,000 Sedan Delivery bodies of 1928-1929, Ford decided to go "up-scale" in 1930 with the Town Car DElivery. The LeBaron division of the Briggs Manufacturing Company also built a Town car Delivery similar in styling to the Sedan Deliver. However, the body of the Ford model shared nothing in common with its lesser cousin being formed entirely of hand-formed aluminum.
Intended for the exclusive shop that wanted something ultra-smart for boulevard use, the 1931 Model A Deluxe Tpwn Car Delivery made its first appearance in January, 1931 and was the most elegant commercial vehicle ever produced by Ford. Mated to the standard Model A chassis, it was the most expensive in the light-car line. Even though it was acommercial model, it featured the nickel-plated radiator shell and headlight bodies of the passenger models. Standard features included locks on all three doors, a pair of seats upholstered in Spanish brown leather, side view mirror and side mounted spares in the front fenders.
In addition to the open driver's compartment, the car featured natural wood veneer in the parcel space, a wide rear door, a rakish slanting windshield and ornamental carriage lights on either side of the body. It was available in forty exterior color schemes. The list price was $1,150.00. At total of 191 were produced in 1930 and 1931.
