Description:
|
The Benz Duc model was introduced in 1898 when Benz was commissioned to design an automobile for King Leopold II of Belgium. This car was built in 1900, the last year of Duc production. While most cars of the era used a steering tiller, Benz used an unusual early form of rack-and-pinion steering. The initials on the dash are those of its original owner, Fritz Held, Germany's first automobile race driver and Benz sales representative in Mannheim, where the Benz factory was located.
