Description:

1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special
The Bonneville Special was named after the Utah Salt Flats where speed trials are held. Influenced by contempory aviation design, General Motors stylists endowed the car with a Plexiglas cockpit canopy, simulated jet exhaust openings, and genuine airplane instruments.
Two Bonneville Specials were built, both powered by four-carburetor, straight-eight engines. They were retired from the show circuit when the overhead-valve Pontiac V-8 was introduced in 1955.
Remarkably, both Bonneville Specials survive including this metallic gree example (the other was red), which was used by GM for West Coast promotional purposes.
This car sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2006 for over $3,000,000.
