Monster Garage 1997 Ford F-150 Nut Shaker
This tough Ford F-150, complete with a 800-pound shaker head from Orchard Machinery Corporation, is sure to leave the trees shaken in their roots - literally. Sold on a Bill of Sale only. Special conditions apply. Monster Garage do something strange and obscure!? Never! Okay so we lied. Jesse took a 1997 Ford F-150 and monsterized it into a tree shaker. Using a hydraulically powered clamp and rotating mass device, this harvesting device latches onto a tree, shakes vigorously, then collects the falling nuts in an umbrella, all without damaging the tree. Able to shake up to three trees a minute, this machine has revolutionized the agricultural industry. The main component of this build was an 800 lb hydraulically powered shaker head, custom-made for Monster Garage by Orchard Machinery Corporation. The team removed the bed so the head could be mounted directly onto the truck's rear frame. To hold the 800 lb device, the team reinforced the pickup's frame with steel and created a 4-link suspension system, which included 2,500 lb air bags. As directed by Jesse, the team went on to build a canopy to catch the falling nuts (and fruit) from the tree as well as a conveyer belt to take the captured produce to a hopper. The finished tree shaker became one of the most successful builds in Monster Garage history. The biggest challenge was: running the hydraulic pump off the engine and constructing the conveyer belt and nut-catcher structure.
