1969 Camaro Convertible Re-Creation
$130,000 2008 Barrett-Jackson Auction Scottsdale AZ
Rallye Green with White interior
"HotRod 1" was custom built for "Hot Rod" magazine by Classic Automotive Restoration Specialists in Belews Creek, NC. The three men that made this feature car possible were Mark Vogt of Classic Industries, Doug Evans Senior VP of Primedia Publishing and Jim Barber of Classic Automotive Restoration Specialist Inc. All of whom are members of the Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO), a sub council of SEMA. It was after an ARMO meeting at a Barrett-Jackson Auction in 2003 that they bench raced the idea of "New" muscle car bodies. This is the very first re-creation muscle car and even further yet, the first "Hot Rod" magazine vehicle ever licensed that carries that "Hot Rod" name and logo. The "HotRod 1" Camaro is an execution of a Steve Stanford design, using all '69 styling cues while adding C5 Corvette marker lights, rear quarter duct openings and a custom paint scheme. The HR1 car features the only prototype ZL1 Ram Jet used to develop to a production run of 200 in 2004 which was donated by General Motors. The ZL1 Ram Jet is cast from the original 1969 ZL1 tooling while adding Ram Jet Fuel Injection for a total of 528hp/510 ft-lb torque. This car also features many custom and prototype parts from the following manufacturers: Budnik Wheels, Keisler Engineering, Detroit Speed and Engineering, Classic Industries, stainless steel disc brakes, Moser Engineering, and BF Goodrich Tires. Since its debut at the SEMA show in 2004, it has been on two "Hot Rod" ,magazine covers. The second cover remains the highest selling issue of "Hot Rod" magazine in 16 years. The car has gone on the Power Tour in 2005 and 2006. The HotRod 1 car has also completed a six month "World of Wheels Tour" put on by "Motor Trend" magazine.
