Personal Info: 1999 Paul Yaffe Custom Motorcycle
$18,500 2008 Barrett-Jackson Auction Scottsdale AZ
1999 Paul Yaffe original "Sliver" custom softtail motorcycle. Best of Show winner at the famous Oakland Roadster Show and voted "America's Most Beautiful Motorcycle." Other credentials include a list of various awards from many other shows including the Mikuni Best of Show Award. "Sliver" was also featured on the cover of the December 1999 "VQ" magazine as well as being featured in many other publications over the years. Joe Kress of "VQ" magazine said that this bike "is a surgically clean stretch bike that looks like it's racing at 100mph while sitting still." Paul Yaffe began the build of this bike with a Daytec Softtail-style frame, stretched it 5" and created a 36-degree rake. As an advocate of using as many OE Harley Davidson parts as possible, Paul has used mostly OE-based parts; modified unquestionably, but OE based. The one-piece oil tank is actually part of the frame. The oil lines are routed internally and the "wings" on the swing arm that pivot into hollowed-out fender struts as the suspension works are only a few examples of Paul Yaffe's craftsmanship. More one-off details include special flush caps to conceal the axles and pointed end-caps for the forks machined to match the slider covers. The famous Dawne Holmes did the paintwork and it is in perfect condition. "Sliver" has a timeless and aggressive stance that sparked a trend in custom motorcycle styling that continues today. Even with a 5" stretch and a 36-degree rake this bike has light steering, a small turning radius and is incredibly easy to ride, even for a 5'6 tall rider. "Sliver" has an abundance of ground clearance and a wonderful suspension that makes parking lots worry free and long rides easy to endure. "Sliver" was built using only the highest quality components. Examples of these components include a very stout and always reliable S&S 117cid engine with Branch heads and custom engraving that will propel this bike to incredible speeds. Other examples include 21" and 18" Performance Machine front and rear wheels. This is a wonderful bike that has seen very little use and it is in original show condition.
