1990 Ford Mustang Custom "Switchblade"
In an effort to expedite one of the most common household chores, Jesse and his team embark on the adventure of turning a Mustang into a mower. It's the very first Monster Garage ever filmed: the transition of a 1990 Ford Mustang GT into a lawn mower. To transform the Mustang into a mower, the team began by throwing out the back seat, muffler and catalytic converter. Then they added a 10hp Briggs & Stratton lawn mower engine and a 48" triangular Delta Deck mower, which they installed underneath the car, just behind the rear wheels. The team also attached three cylindrical rotating blades to the doors and the rear of the car. Levers inside the cockpit lower both the Delta Deck and the rear cylindrical mower. The Mustang was then ready for its custom paint job from House of Kolor. The base coat was Lime Green Pearl, over which an Ice Gold Pearl coat was sprayed. Lime Green metal flake was applied over that, followed by two coats of Lime Green Candy Apple paint. For the flame paint details, a black smoke outline was used and a "Kameleon" green-to-silver top coat applied. A final clear coat sealed the deal, after which gold-wire rims (made with 100 spokes apiece) were fitted. The result? Let's put it this way: You should be so lucky as to have to cut your grass on a regular basis. "Mowing the grass at 100 mph rules. Doing anything at 100 miles an hour rules, for that matter, " said Jesse James.
