1981 Cadillac Seville Prototype
$15,700 2008 Barrett-Jackson Auction Scottsdale AZ
One-of-a-kind, coach-built prototype with only 13,502 actual miles. Cost over $100,000 to build the car, molds, jigs, templates, dies, etc. 27 hand-made fiberglass parts went into the prototype, plus all other parts mentioned are hand crafted. The prototype was built to be a high-end, limited production car with an agreement between two builders and an investor with $500,000 to set up production after the prototype was finished. Unfortunately, the investor passed away, funds could not be raised and no other cars were built. Custom features designed and hand-made: extended hood and grille, stainless steel front bumper extension, hood louvers, frenched headlights with chrome bezels, front pedestal turn lights, hand-formed chrome side trim, upholstered carriage top with matching side window inserts trimmed off with stainless steel snaps and moldings, rear plastic window unzips and allows conversation from rumble seat passengers, electrically operated rumble seat with safety belts, storage compartments, courtesy lights, etc., pedestal mounted tail lights, a functional continental mount tire upholstered to match top, a rear stainless steel bumper extension encasing continental wheel and custom two tone paint job -- black and a hand blended color we named Catherine Red. Cadillac factory options: 6.0 Liter V8, power seats, windows, door locks, antenna, steering and brakes. Leather interior, cruise control, floor mats, AM/FM radio/cassette player, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, tinted windows, etc.
