This Mustang GT350 re-creation started out as a 6-cylinder 2 2 with an automatic transmission. This car was restored by its previous owner. As owner of Amherst Classic Cars, we had to see just how good the restoration was. We pulled the motor and suspension. We removed the front clip and began the repaint to Wimbledon white with blue racing stripes, to match the original GT350 color scheme. The car came with a 289 ready to be rebuilt to high output standards. The motor was rebuilt by Johnny at Rick's Speedway Performance. The 289 has flat top forged pistons. The original 289 had cast iron heads but we installed pro-top live aluminum heads with small chambers and large valves. It has a torquer cam shaft and a very wide range power ban from 1,500-6,500 RPM. It has 10:1 compression and puts out over 300 blueprinted and balanced horsepower. Demon 650 carb and Edelbrock intake. Serpentine pulley system, MSD ignition, headers and Flowmasters exhaust, this high output 289 sounds like a racecar and puts out maximum horse power. Top loader 4-speed transmission with a center force clutch. After a complete re-paint the suspension was installed. It has a posi-traction Ford 9" rear end with 355 gears. It has ladder bars and an anti-sway bar. The 15" Magnum wheels with Goodyear NASCAR eagle tires have the look of new and vintage. The GT350 stripes and badging give it the look of a vintage GT350 with badging from the '67-'68 GT350 models. The interior is like new from the previous restoration. When you start this car, it sounds like it is ready to hit the track. It has the sound of a vintage GT350 racer. With it's GT350 modified steering system, it has the true feel of an original GT350 Mustang.
