Description: 1988 Chevy Blazer Monster Garage
$15,500 2008 Barrett-Jackson Auction Scottsdale AZ
1988 Chevrolet Blazer "Pikes's peak Hill Climber" built on the Monster Garage TV show
Ain't no mountain high enough for Monster Garage, not even Colorado's Pikes Peak, 14,110 feet of purple mountain majesty. And what better way to test the chops of this 1988 Chevy Blazer than the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is the second-oldest auto race in the world, second only to the Indianapolis 500. It is held annually and consists of cars in various classes racing 12.5 miles (156 corners) on pavement and dirt, at a continuously increasing elevation and through rain, snow, hail, etc., in order to reach the summit of Pikes Peak. In other words, Jesse and his crew made this bad boy solid enough for the terrain they would be facing. The team did welding work on the climber's roll cage, front clip, rear axle and suspension mounts, engine mounts, steering system, brake pedals, fuel and water cells, and radiator core support. Includes the engine, supercharger, transmission, front end, rear end, drive shaft, wheels, tires, steering quickener, steering wheel, seats, belts, fuel cells, radiator and mister. The team cut air scoops for the rear brakes into both sides of the vehicle, lowered it 10", shaved the wheel wells, and added fiberglass front fenders and hood. The biggest challenge the team faced was mounting the Ford front end onto the Chevy truck, which needed to be aligned and calibrated correctly so that it was straight and level.
