Custom "White Trash Truck" built on the Monster Garage TV Show
"I trashed my truck" usually implies something bad has happened. Usually. In the first episode of "Monster Garage", Jesse and his team transform a 1994 Eddie Bauer Edition Ford Explorer into a tricked-out trash truck. Jesse bet $500 that this design to transform a Ford Explorer into a garbage truck wouldn't work. He lost. How can a 1994 Ford Explorer house enough equipment to make this one killer garbage crusher? Garbage equipment and storage take space, so the team started their transformation by pulling out the Explorer's back seat. They then installed a customized hydraulically powered metal arm (designed and redesigned many, many times) to grab garbage cans and empty them into a receptacle that included a hydraulic crusher to compact the trash. The roof was cut and fitted it with a hinge and a hydraulic system to lift it up, creating room for the arm to pick up cans and dump their trash. Under its hood the Explorer has a 21hp, 4Liter V6 engine and automatic transmission. Since most trash trucks are all trash and no flash, Jesse decided that this mechanical monstrosity deserved a new sleek look. Its mechanical metamorphosis complete, the Explorer got an extreme makeover from House of Kolor, beginning with a primer sealer coat and white base coat. Two coats of Ice White Pearl were added and a silver base coat followed. Then silver metal-flake flames were applied to the vehicle, and a final clear coat of paint. KMC wheels rounded out the package. The end product was indeed a success. If you thought your garbage cans were in danger before, you should see them being picked up by this monster machine.
