Description: 1955 Bel Air Custom Station Wagon
$50,000 2008 Barrett-Jackson Auction Scottsdale AZ
This 1955 Chevy, named 55 Botie, is quite frankly the prettiest 4 door Bel Air wagon around. A complete restoration. The chassis has been powdercoated. The underside of the car is as clean as the body is straight. The body has been tastefully modified and "smoothed", door handles and drip rail shaved, and painted on a rotisserie a beautiful Toreador Red clear coat paint. The rear end of the car has also been tastefully customized eliminating the rear bumper. The interior is a Sid Chavis out of San Jose, CA, done in British Tan leather hides with a gorgeous raw silk header. $30,000 was invested in the interior alone. The '55 Botie theme is carried out tastefully throughout the car including the bowtie turn signals, tail lights, dash board, head rests and rear storage area. Power steering, power brakes, power windows and air conditioning. The car is very quick. Under the hood is a 385hp GM high performance motor backed up by a 700R4 with a heavy duty torque converter and a Curry rear end with 3:90 gears. The exhaust system was hand-built by Sanderson Headers in South San Francisco. All stainless steel with ceramic coating and glass packs. The stance of the car is perfect. 4-wheel disc brakes allow the car to stop on a dime and make change. For better balance, the battery has been moved to behind the rear wheel well on the passenger side. All new suspension, shocks and running gear. The car took five years to build and over $135,000 was invested in the most perfect of Chevrolets done by Bell's Classic Auto Works of Lodi, CA. Less than 150 miles on the restoration.
