1936 Chrysler Airflow C-10 4-Door Sedan
A milestone in automotive development. The Airflow's design was the first car ever to be tested in a wind tunnel at the recommendation of Orville Wright. Chrysler spent 6 years of experimentation and full testing to evolve the 1934 Airflow, a car whose features and design were far in advance of its age. In performance, the 1934 Airflow set a total of 72 stockcar speed records at the Salt Flats in Utah. Most of the records were set competing with much larger engines, up to 488cid compared to the Airflow's 323cid. In 1934, it ran 95.7mph for one mile, 90 mph for 500 miles and 84.43mph for 24 hours covering 2,026.4 miles. The Airflow was produced for only 4 short years much to the dismay of Walter P. Chrysler. However, almost every feature of this futuristic car was adopted over the years by Ford, GM and competitors. This 1936 Airflow has been meticulously restored to its original specifications. The exceptional body has been painted the original maroon that was popular in 1936. Although over 6,275 of this particular model were produced, only 75 of the 1936 Airflow C-10's are registered in the roster of the Airflow Club of America. This is a fine example of auto history and is ready to cruise at 75-80mph all day long. Buy a piece of history.
