The 1969 Chevelle 2-door hardtop has just had a frame-off restoration. A re-creation of Don Yenko's drag car with a rebuilt L88 engine. The frame was sand blasted and all suspension and steering was replaced. The body was stripped to metal and painted Lemans Blue COPO option. The L88 was stripped down and rebuilt back to GM specs. The block # is 321 indicating a 1968 build date. The intake is #198 and the heads are #074.The block has 4-bolt mains and oil bypass plug. The transmission is a Super T10 cast iron case race version. The mags are Cragar SS with Mickey Thompson street slicks. The rear end is a 12-bolt with 373 gears and Auburn posi-traction. Exhaust is black ceramic-coated Hooker Headers with Flowmaster exhaust. An 850 double-pumper Holley tops the factory spec built L88. The horsepower of the L88 was rated at 430hp but the true rating was closer to 600hp with the 12 1/2 to 1 compression and solid cam. The 074 aluminum open chamber heads came available in 1969 for better flow. The large aluminum radiator keeps the engine cool.
