1996 was the first year of the Viper GTS coupe. So stunning was its overall performance and retro-styling, it was selected as the Official Pace Car of the 80th Indianapolis 500 on May 26th 1996, and launched the success story that permeates the auto industry today: GT championship racing, a huge national club following, horsepower wars among competing automakers, not to mention rivalry "stop light action" near and around the local donut shops. The awesome performance of the GTS was undeniable. An under-rated 450hp with almost 500 ft. lbs. of torque in a new all aluminum 8.0 Liter V10 engine powering a high steering 6-speed transmission, specially fitted Michelin Pilot SX MXX3 hi-performance tires, air bags, air conditioning, leather seats, bold face white gauges with 200mph speedometer and a 7000rpm tachometer. Add to that, all the creature comforts that allow the individual driver to become one with the road. Offered here is Viper #186 which is probably the finest and best cared for example of a 1996 first GTS coupes. This beautiful one owner car is being offered for sale for the first time. Original mileage as of this writing is 8,364. Fully numbers matching car with all documentation complete back to the date of purchase including original Window Sticker and purchase agreement. Body panels are all in original paint, tires and wheels are also original. It is kept in a climate controlled automotive sanctuary located in Southern California.
