Description: 1932 Ford Pro-Street Coupe
$94,000 2008 Barrett-Jackson Auction Scottsdale AZ
This 3 window coupe is truly the quintessential Hot Rod. The most sought after body style, coupled with a unique, ground-pounding drivetrain and built by the legendary Sam Foose. The body is a real, all-steel Ford with nary a trace of rust or body filler. There are 33 modifications. Some obvious, such as the 3 1/2" chopped top, rolled rear pan and sectioned/stretched rear fenders, but most rather subtle - the front turn signals, flush-fit doors and continuous fender bead, which is typical of a Foose-designed car. The engine is a 540" all-aluminum, fully-polished, Kinsler Injected, Yenko big-block built to run on pump gas, but still yielding an impressive 618hp and 698 ft. pounds of torque. Components include a Crower steel crank, Carillo rods, Schneider hydraulic roller-cam, MSD ignition and 2 1/4" stepped-headers by Jack Davis. The constant-flow Kinsler Fuel Injection is very street-able and can be controlled with the Dial-a-Jet from inside the car. A Doug Nash 5-speed backs up this one-of-a-kind motor, coupled to a Grand National quick-change rear end. Every component on the entire drivetrain, from the harmonic balancer to the quick-change cover, is polished and/or plated. The chassis is a TCI Pro-street with triangulated 4-bar rear suspension. 18.50 Mickey Thompsons are mounted on 15" x 12" Halibrands. The Bell front-axle, sitting on a Posie's spring, was narrowed to accommodate 8 1/2" Halibrands and the front end is stabilized by a custom-built, anti-sway torsion bar. Brakes are 4-wheel Wilwood disc. The Tilton bias-bar system allows you to balance the front and rear brakes which are independent from one another. A Griffin polished, aluminum radiator sits behind a Dan Fink billet aluminum grille. Polished stainless sandwiched between the body and the chassis creates a mirror effect that highlights the undercarriage. Chip Foose designed the interior, which was fabricated by Jerry Webster and combines sculptured wool panels with wool/leather Griffey bucket seats. A Boyd's steering wheel is mounted on the polished IDIDIT tilt steering column and the dash houses a full complement of Autometer gauges. Power windows and remote-controlled doors provide modern convenience, but the rear window is still controlled by the original, manual hand-crank. A chrome roll bar, Hurst linkage, Simpson harnesses and stereo are also featured. This is a true Hot Rod; not a mild-mannered Street Rod. It's not a fiberglass kit, or steel reproduction; this is a 75 year old Ford - A Lil Deuce coupe with a history. The engine in this car is one of a very limited production that Yenko cast for racing applications. Virtually every fastener is polished/plated and the car features the finest components in every aspect. Best of all, this car was designed and built by Sam Foose; one of, if not the, most talented and craftiest builders in the industry.
