Description: 1936 Ford 3-Window Coupe Hot Rod
$112,500 2008 Barrett-Jackson Auction Scottsdale AZ
This 1936 Ford 3 window coupe was originally built in Memphis, TN, in 1958 by Don Brasfield, a Golden Gloves boxer. The car received many custom touches that were popular in the 50's including a chopped top, filled roof and cowl, 40 Chevy headlights molded into the fenders, shaved door and deck lid handles, a custom 39 Nash grille, custom aircraft bucket seats, filled dash with custom gauges, black and white tuck-n-roll interior, a Buick Nailhead with 6 carbs and many other details that made this car a one-of-a-kind custom in the late 50's. The car stayed in Memphis all of its life and was eventually pulled from a warehouse by Steve Legens, owner of Legens Hot Rod (LHR), after being stored for 35 year. Over the past few years, Legens Hot Rod has transformed this coupe into a one-of-a-kind Street Rod, combining 50's style and Legens trademark attention to detail. The car features a 425 Buick Nailhead engine with 6 Stromberg look-a-likes that are actually EFI throttle bodies. The Fuel Injection is controlled by a custom FAST computer and wiring harness. The transmission is a Muncie 4-speed mated to the Nailhead with a custom bell housing. The chassis consists of a stock frame with a dropped axle in the front and parallel leafs in the rear with a 9" Ford rear end. The outstanding paint is by Legens Hot Rod and is called "Red Snap". The interior is by Legens Hot Rod and features Nu-buck leather tuck-n-roll. The dash is filled with an array of classic instruments gauges. The steering wheel is a cut down '57 Olds wheel. The seats are actually aircraft bucket seats. "Street Rodder" magazine featured this car on the Nov. 2007 cover. This car was a 2007 Top 25 at Shades of the Past.
