Description: 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L-89 Coupe
Final Bid: $ 192,500.00 - Russo and Steele Auction Scottsdale 2008
Originality is an elusive quality and one that is rarely found in classic sports cars. Corvettes don't as a rule get left in the garage to wait, largely untouched and pristine for discovery by future collectors. This 1968 Corvette coupe is the exception, a 5321 mile all original high performance 427-435hp big block. This in itself is remarkable enough but this 1968 Corvette coupe is also equipped with nineteen factory options, headed by the very rare L89 aluminum heads. One of only 1,030 sold in 1967, 1968 & 1969 and second only to the legendary L88 full race 427 in power and performance. Awards include three-time NCRS top Flights, NCRS Performance Verification Award, NCRS Duntov Award, NCRS 5-Star Bowtie Award, Bloomington Gold Award and Bloomington Gold Special Collection When it achieved the NCRS Bowtie Award for originality, it scored 93.5% interior, 95.9% chassis, 99.5% exterior, and 99.8% mechanical.

It was inducted in the Bloomington Gold Hall of Fame in 2005, making it the first and only L89 to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Documentation includes the original window sticker still affixed to the driver's window, owner's manual, warranty book, protecto plate, AM/FM instructions, and tank sticker still on the car. This ultimate piece of Corvette history has been featured in the hardback books Corvette the American Legend and Sports Car Chronicle, and was featured on the cover of Corvette Fever Magazine in 2003. It was previously owned by Mike Yager, founder and owner of Mid America Motorworks and has complete owner history with additional documentation in a 3-inch binder. Don't miss your opportunity to own the best, lowest mileage, and most original L89 left in the country.

Options are as follows: L71 427/435 hp Engine, L89 Aluminum Cylinder Heads, M2 1 Close Ratio 4-speed Transmission, Genuine Leather Seats, Ni 1 Off Road Exhaust, F4l Special Front and Rear Suspension, G8 1 Positraction, K66 Transistor Ignition, N40 Power Steering, J50 Power Brakes, N36 Telescopic Steering Column, P17 White Stripe Tires, U69 and U79 AM-FM Stereo Radio, A3 1 Power Windows, C50 Rear Window Defroster, A82 Headrests, P01 Bright Metal Wheel Covers, and A0l Soft Ray Tinted Glass on all windows.
