Chassis No. T831574DN; Engine 3,442cc dual overhead camshaft inline six-cylinder, triple SU carburetors, 250hp @ 5,500rpm, 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive, independent front suspension with torsion bars and telescopic shock absorbers, live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs and lever shock absorbers, four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes.
Shortly after the XK 150 was introduced in 1958 Jaguar capitalized on its competition success and engine tuning experience to introduce the high performance "S" model, first in the Open Two Seater roadster and later in the coupe. The S engine used a sophisticated high flow straight-port cylinder head and revised camshafts to take full advantage of the breathing capabilities of three 2" SU carburetors and increase output to 250 horsepower at 5,500rpm. Disc brakes, first proven on Jaguar's C-type at Le Mans, kept the braking performance of the XK150S in line with its more potent engine. Overdrive and wire wheels were standard as well, making the XK150S the best-performing of all the XK series.
The XK150S roadster is highly appreciated by collectors who value its combination of luxury and performance with classic XK Jaguar style. This example has been fastidiously restored to concours condition in brilliant red livery with black leather upholstery and black carpets. In addition to the sparkling chrome wire wheels it has a pair of driving lights. The engine's aluminum cam covers, intake manifold, front cover and carburetors have been show-polished to complement its performance. Its history is authenticated by the accompanying Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Certificate.
