1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS-6 Coupe
Final Bid: $ 75,900.00 - Russo & Steele Auction Scottsdale 2008
In 1970, Chevy realized that there was no replacement for horsepower. The cubic inches seemed to grow without end. Chevy unveiled the 454 in the Corvette as well as the Chevelle. By late 69 the secret of the purpose built LS6 454 was out and Chevy began to ramp up production for the mid year (January 1970) release.
If you were lucky enough to walk in and place an order in 1970, you could choose from: Cowl induction hood, Standard 3.31 CRV axle or the optional HD 4.10 CRW, Gauge Package, Bucket seats, Console
And of course the famous "Rock Crusher" or the indestructible TH400.
Although the LS6 option was a Regular Production Order option, it has taken on the rareness of the COPO's and Yenko's. With the pinnacle of 450hp, there is no doubt as to why the LS6 Chevelle is one of the most sought after cars today. This car is optioned with: Cowl induction, 3.31 axle, TH 400 trans, Bench seat, Cranberry Red with std black interior. This rare example is a survivor, a 33,000-mile survivor, with only one repaint. It still retains all of its original sheet metal. It is documented with its original protect-o-plate, engine, and a copy of the original buildsheet. There is nothing that screams muscle like a Cranberry Red LS6!
