1956 Continental Mark II Coupe
Final Bid: $ 69,300.00 - Russo & Steele Auction Scottsdale 2008
This car was the 6th car to be completed at the factory on January 23, 1956 and was sent to the Harris Miller Lincoln-Mercury Inc. dealership in Bronx, NY on January 25, 1956. The car was painted in Cobalt Blue Iridescent (paint code 02), it was one of 124 total production cars painted this color. The interior trim code -1A1A- consisted of all Leather: Sea Biscuit - light blue. There were only 31 cars produced with this interior/exterior combination. This car is also equipped with power windows, power seats and power antenna. It also came with a Town/Country radio.
The car was purchased in 1978 with 63,683 miles. The restoration began in 1987. In 2002 the restoration was completed and the car had accumulated an additional 193 miles. As the car sits today the mileage is 64,630 miles. This Continental has won many national awards since its restoration. At LCOC, in September 1999, the car won Primary First 98/100 points & Ford Trophy, Best in Class. Also in May 2000 the car placed Senior First with 96/100 points & William Clay Ford Trophy, Best Senior Car (the judging at this level is much tougher). The car was awarded Senior and AACA in 1999 and Grand National in 2000.
The Lincoln was invited to many known additional shows including, the Philadelphia International Auto Show in 2000 the Concours D'Elegance of the Eastern United State in 1999 & 2000 and also the Radnor Hunt Concours D'Elegance in 2001. This was a frame off restoration with the car being totally disassembled and all parts replaced with new, rebuilt or refurbished.
