Highly coveted by the European Sporting enthusiast, the BJ8 features the magic combination of comfort and performance that has catapulted these little cars to the forefront of collectablity. With twin SU two-inch HD8 carburetors; it produces 150 brake horsepower and has a top speed of over 120mph. Additional features include: 2,912cc overhead valve inline six-cylinder engine, four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, independent front suspension with wishbones and sway bars and rear live axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs and sway bars and front disc with rear drum brakes on a 92 inch wheel base.
Built for a four year run beginning in 1963, these were commonly referred to by enthusiasts as the "Big Healey". Not only was performance and tractability greatly enhanced, but the car also featured a myriad of creature comforts such as roll up windows, fully trimmed interior, and wood faced dashboard and center console all benefiting from the high level of workmanship consistent with the now standard 2 2 layout. Under the 'bonnet' was also a vacuum brake booster and the combination of disc/drum brakes was a new standard.
