1969 Chevrolet Corvette Racecar Roadster
Final Bid: $ 66,000.00 - Russo & Steele Auction Scottsdale 2008
This 1969 Corvette racecar represents a rare opportunity to acquire a significant piece of Corvette race history. This is the car that Allan Anderson drove to win not one, but TWO SCCA B Production Northeast Division titles, in 1972 and 1975. Allan placed 8th in the 1972 ARRC (American Road Race of Champions) race, which was the SCCA National Championship. Fully documented with the original logbooks dating from 1972. This car was one of the top B/P cars in the country during the 1972-1975 period and has raced at such infamous tracks as Watkins Glen, Bridgehampton, Nelson Ledges, Lime Rock, Summit Point, Pocono, Cumberland and Mid-Ohio. In addition to SCCA B/P, Allan Anderson also competed with this car in endurance races in Trans Am (1975-1976) and IMSA (1973), as well as the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen. This car gained fame as the GE Yankee Racing Corvette and had GE sponsorship for developing silicone brake fluid at different race tracks. Fully restored to like new condition and includes the hardtop configured for endurance races. Also included are memorabilia and race records.
This race Corvette is extremely rare in that less than two dozen different Corvettes from the 1968-1975 period, the heyday of shark Corvette ground-pounding competition, won a SCCA B/P Division championship. Yet this car won TWO Division titles. How many of these cars still survive today? Of those, how many are fully documented and still retain their original logbooks? Indeed, this represents a chance that does not come around often to acquire a true vintage race Corvette with a rich and significant history, a winner.
