1970 Chevrolet Nova SS 396/375 Coupe
Final Bid: $ 66,000.00 - Russo & Steele Auction Scottsdale 2008
The 1970 Model year represented the high water mark for factory Nova performance, with just under 20,000 Super Sports, in all engine configurations having been produced. A scant 3,765 of these Novas received the biggest and baddest Regular Production Option (RPO) engine available, which was the 396ci 375hp engine. This engine was actually bored out by the factory .030, to make a true 402ci. These cars used the identical carb, heads and intake from the mighty LS6 Chevelle 454CI 450hp engine, making the 1970 L78 Nova one of the Hottest performance Chevy's of all times.
This example is finished in the striking factory colors of Fathom Blue with a Blue Cloth bench seat interior. It even has the original and Coveted factory 14X6 inch XT code wheels with "Dog Dish" Hub Caps.
This L78 Features include: Certified at 8,685 miles, with an original Texas inspection sticker from 1970 still on the windshield showing only 7,836 miles, Affidavit from original owner, Bill of sale to second owner, Numbers Matching Drive train, Original POP, Original Blue Cloth Bench Seat Interior, Born with Drive Train, Factory Original Sheet Metal, and it was Awarded a Gold Spinner at the Chevy Vette Fest Nationals 11/07.
