Paul Harvey Ford of Chicago ran a 1967 Ford Fairlane 427 hardtop coupe on the National Hot Rod Association dragstrips with good times in the low 1.9s at 127 mph. However, the times were not good enough to be really competitive with the Hemi-powered MoPars. Other racing teams had much more success running the Fairlane 427s on the NASCAR high-speed ovals, winning at the Riverside 500, Daytona 500, and the Atlanta 500.
